10/Injeksi Untuk Emosi is Mustard’s 2nd release since 3D in March 2008. Packed with 4 new tracks and one from 3D (Only Wanna Be With You), this EP strongly carries the sounds of indie pop. Firstly, lets credit Bakri and Jamu from BMW Studio for the decent studio work on this EP. OK, I really want to start on a positive note here, but personally, what really caught my attention is the very obvious grammatical errors in the song ‘How Do I Suppose To Loving You’. Not only does the title bother me but what makes it worse is the fact that that particular phrase is supposedly the hook of the song. It’s really saddening cause the song is actually quite catchy. But hey, this is just my personal view. Some people don’t mind these things at all, as long as the music’s right. And who knows? It might be intentional too, right? But personally, I do hope that perhaps next time, the band would get some proof reading done for their English songs.
Alright now, lyrics aside, the band actually do have some catchy tracks here. Although all 5 songs sound almost similar to one another, i have to admit that most of them are pretty sing-along-able. And that somewhat shows the credibility of the songwriter in writing decent pop songs. Vocals and guitars are a bit off-pitch sometimes but that’s okay, it’s something that you can work on. Important thing is to keep on writing and playing and getting your own original sound. You gotta start somewhere right?
